Celtic set to challenge Rangers for key target?

Keith Jackson of the Daily Record has suggested that Celtic are monitoring the situation with Michael O'Halloran, who has been a target for Rangers.

The Michael O'Halloran to Rangers transfer story always appeared to have a touch of the Scott Allans about it, and that might be the case, if some rumours are to be believed.

In the Daily Record's roundup, Keith Jackson alludes to rumours that Celtic have asked to be kept abreast of Rangers' transfer bids for O'Halloran, and are ready to step in themselves with a bid.

Jackson made it clear the rumour was unconfirmed at the moment but said it could feature in tomorrow's papers if it can be corroborated.

O'Halloran's a good player, but he's surely not worth getting into an Old Firm pishing contest over - particularly if the 600k asking price is true, which can probably be raised if Celtic are also interested. The fact that he's also a Celtic fan and unlike Allan would probably actually get a shot in their team due to their lack of pace means that if they really are interested, there's no point in carrying on here.
