Rangers stars aiming for Europe after new Ibrox deals

Andy Halliday and Jason Holt have spoken about their delight over signing new four-year deals to keep them at Rangers until 2020.

Andy Halliday and Jason Holt have both been speaking about how pleased they are to be at the club after they signed new four-year deals earlier.

Holt, arguably our player of the season so far, said:

"I'm delighted and over the moon it's signed, just now the focus is on the rest of the season though.

"When I came in the summer it was such a fantastic club and the way the season has been going so far makes me want to be part of this for a long time."

"Hopefully over the next four years it will be a successful period, first and foremost we must get the club back where they belong and after that a club like Rangers need to be winning titles and trophies.

"To be doing that and be back in Europe would be unbelievable. The atmospheres we've had so far this season have been great at Ibrox and if European nights came back I can imagine it would be even better so here's hoping."

Halliday, meanwhile, had this to say:

"I'm delighted to sign the deal, Mark and Davie pulled me in to give me the nod that I was getting a new contract and I was thrilled.

"There have been that many good moments since a signed, there haven't been many downs. This is the happiest I have been and most I have enjoyed football in my career.

"People saw it as a big risk to turn down a contract elsewhere to come on trial at Rangers but I'm thankful that I'm reaping the benefits now."

"It didn't take too long, in terms of the negotiations, to get it all done; it was only about a week in total.

"People have asked me where I see myself in five years' time and the answer has always been still at Rangers and trying to get us back to where we belong. So it's good that I have committed myself to 2020 at least.

"From a personal point of view I want to keep playing as many games as I can over the next four years and keep being part of a lot of memorable wins at the club.

"As a club it is important we get back to where we belong, in the Premiership, challenging for titles and back in European competitions.

"I think we can be back in Europe within the next four years, we are a club with a certain stature and the demands we set on ourselves won't change next year and for the years to come."

"I think it's within the capabilities of this group of players to be at that level, we have strengthened in January and we'll add again in the summer."

Staunch.
